It’s official! Another Marvel Cinematic Universe chapter has wrapped principal photography. Thor: Ragnarok ended filming yesterday in Australia and director Taika Waititi celebrated with some of the cast members in a live Facebook video. While celebrating the milestone, Waititi revealed a new character appearing in the movie as well.

Over the course of the video, Waititi, Chris Hemsworth, and Tessa Thompson (sporting some Valkyrie makeup) were seen, but so were plenty of other people and set pieces behind the scenes. In addition to giving viewers a glimpse of a crashed spaceship and those in robes he called “scrappers,” presumably because their goal is to take crashed vessels apart for scrap, Waititi also introduced an actor named Steve (his last name wasn’t given), revealing that he would be playing a character named Miek.

While Miek might not be a name familiar to those who don’t read Marvel comics, for those who do, it’s only more confirmation that the Thor: Ragnarok storyline will pull from the Planet Hulk stories of the comics.

It’s still unclear just how much of the rumors surrounding the movie will turn out to be true, but what we can tell you about Miek is that in the comics, he was an ally for Hulk (played by Mark Ruffalo for the film) when he was stranded in outer space. Miek is a member of an insectoid race from Sakaar. (Guardians of the Galaxy fans might remember that name getting a mention in the film as Ronan [Lee Pace] procured an army from there.)

Miek and Hulk met in the arena in the comics, eventually forming an alliance. Miek was one of several beings who aligned themselves with Hulk, though those alliances were a means to an end. There wasn’t exactly a friendship between the two and any relationship they had deteriorated in future story arcs.

With Miek playing a role here though, it’s indicative that more of Planet Hulk could be making it into the film than some have thought. Of course, it doesn’t appear that the character will be a member of an insectoid race of people this time around as the actor wasn’t sporting any green suit or costume pieces to indicate VFX being added in later.

Thor: Ragnarok lands in theaters in November of next year.

Before then, you can catch a whole lot more Marvel on the big screen. Doctor Strange lands in theaters next week and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming both land in theaters next year.
