It’s become customary for Marvel Comics to release prequels to Marvel Studios movies over the last few years. Doctor Strange recently had a pair of stories hit the shelves, and though we haven’t heard anything about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 getting a book, it appears that Spider-Man: Homecoming will next year.

Though you might not have heard anything about the story from your local comic book shops yet, Amazon has a listing for a paperback volume that will include at least two issues of “Spider-Man: Homecoming Prelude” as well as more to be determined. The paperback has a listed release date of June 20, 2017, the month before the film actually hits theaters. With the paperback binding together multiple stories though, the comic book issues will likely hit stands at the very least, the month before.

Amazon’s description for the book doesn’t offer many clues for those wondering what’s coming next. It reads:

“You adored his introduction in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, you can't wait for his Hollywood Homecoming - now really get to know the Spider-Man of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this prelude to his big-screen solo adventure! By day, young Peter Parker attends high school and lives with his Aunt May. By night, he fights crime with wall-crawling powers and web-swinging tech - and he's destined to one day have an amazing, spectacular, sensational reputation as his neighborhood's friendly hero! Join Marvel's Spider-Man as he makes his first tentative web-swings towards a blockbuster future!”

Whether the preludes will include Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) origin story for those audience members who still want one, or whether it will bridge his life between Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming is unclear. The comics would serve as a good introduction for viewers who want to learn more about the massive cast of characters coming in the film though if the publisher wanted.

The comics are never required reading for casual movie audiences, but they do provide fun details for those who want to spend a little more time with the characters.

There’s no word yet on the writer or artist involved in the comics.

Spider-Man: Homecoming lands in theaters in July 2017. Before it hits theaters, Marvel will see Doctor Strange hit the big screen this Friday and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will do the same in May 2017.
