One of the aspects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that is loved by fans is the fact that there’s room for plenty of crossover. After all, #ItsAllConnected. We already know that crossover aplenty is coming as Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) will stop by Spider-Man: Homecoming and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) will appear in Thor: Ragnarok. Michael Douglas though is hoping he gets to do a little crossover work of his own.

Douglas appeared in Ant-Man as Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man who worked for SHIELD in the 1970s and 80s. In the film, he recruited Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) to become the new Ant-Man, and while Douglas will likely appear in the sequel, not much is known about what other chapters of the MCU he might pop up in. He’s hoping that if and when he gets to appear in another corner of the Universe, he’ll get to do so with Jeremy Renner.

Renner and Douglas were two of the celebrities playing in the World Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament in Hainan, China this weekend. While there, they didn’t just pull their best golf swings, but they also spoke with the press. Douglas told The Content Factory that, “One of the joys of being in the Marvel family is they find ways of transitioning your character into other Marvel films, so hopefully there will be a moment in the future where Jeremy and I have the chance to be in the same Marvel film together… The Marvel family is pretty extraordinary.”

Of course, when Renner was asked about the possibility of working with Douglas in the Marvel future, he chose his words carefully, saying that he was happy to be working on the next Avengers films and that, “There are a lot of amazing cast members in that world and they are all converging, so who knows what is going to happen. I can’t tell you or I might get hurt! Those decisions are above our pay grade, but we are just blessed and happy to be a part of the Marvel family. You just go to work when you are called and you know it is going to be great.”

Could this mean that Michael Douglas is one of the many MCU alumni that will appear in Avengers: Infinity War? Plenty of fans think so. If he were to make an appearance, it would probably be in relation to a scene with Scott Lang since Evangeline Lilly has already said in interviews that her character won’t appear in Infinity War.

The Ant-Man sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, is set to debut in between the next two Avengers movies, and Lilly will finally get to become the Wasp in the film that bears the character’s name, a fitting place for the heroine to spread her wings. That doesn’t mean Douglas couldn’t make an appearance though, even if it’s just a came.

Avengers: Infinity War is set to begin filming in early 2017 for a 2018 release.
