Doctor Strange Analyzes the Avengers 'Civil War' Injuries in Promo

After Doctor Strange comes out, it will be over a year-and-a-half before the doctor gets to meet the Avengers in Avengers: Infinity War. Yet he is already getting a head start in diagnosing them in a new promo, albeit from the sidelines as he watches the fights of Captain America: Civil War.

Technically, this is more like Benedict Cumberbatch diagnosing them, since he seems to speak in his regular British accent instead of Strange's American one. Nevertheless, he analyzes the Civil War injuries of one of Crossbones's henchmen, Iron Man, and Bucky Barnes twice over.

When Strange and Wong encounter the Avengers for real in Infinity War, however, they will likely be needed more for their magical skills than for medical help. But given that the Avengers are split up until Thanos's invasion likely brings them back together, they could meet any combination of current and former Avengers.

To that end, MTV International asked Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong and director Scott Derrickson about what Avengers/Strange crossovers they would most want to see. Of course, Cumberbatch and Wong already know which ones will happen in Infinity War, while Derrickson is out of the loop for the moment despite having his own ideas.

Derrickson has already stated his hope for Strange and Rocket Racoon to meet, although there's no guarantee the Guardians will cross path with Strange when they arrive on Earth. But Tom Holland said last week that Spider-Man isn't confirmed for Infinity War yet, putting a hiccup in any plans for him to meet Wong and other MCU characters he didn't see in Civil War.

Cumberbatch is still tight lipped on who Strange will meet, but everyone is now expecting him and Iron Man to share a few moments. Between Doctor Strange the movie and the character being compared to Tony Stark and the first Iron Man, Kevin Feige's anticipation for Strange and Stark to share scenes, and the Sherlock Holmes connections between Cumberbatch and Robert Downey Jr, Strange should get to analyze Tony and his "broken heart" up close soon enough.

That chance may come in Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, 2018, long after they get Doctor Strange out of the way this Nov. 4.
