Captain America: Civil War has stayed in the background for a while, as Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes up all the attention of the movie world. But 2016's most anticipated blockbuster had a big reminder in store for the night of Nov. 24, as Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr came on Jimmy Kimmel Live with a big surprise promised.

When Downey started by presenting the first one-sheet poster for the movie, it looked like a bit of an anti-climax -- until Evans presented what everyone really expected and hoped to see. Three weeks after the first official trailer premieres in theaters with The Force Awakens, it is now online for the world to see early.

Picking up literally where Ant-Man left off, Captain America and the Falcon have found long missing former Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes. Yet while Bucky proves he has recovered his memory of his old self and his best friend at long last, there isn't time for a longer reunion.

When the third Captain America movie was revealed to be adapting the famed Civil War storyline, it seemed there wouldn't be much room to follow up Captain America: The Winter Soldier, even with Sebastian Stan back. However, Bucky is now not only in the middle of it, he seems to be a big reason Steve Rogers can't abide by the new 'Sokovia Accords' passed to limit and register superhero power after the destruction of Avengers: Age of Ultron -- and perhaps after another event Bucky is hunted down for and probably framed for.

It is also an ominous sign that William Hurt's General Ross is back, eight years after the otherwise forgotten The Incredible Hulk, to present the case for the accords and for the view that Cap is more of a vigilante than a hero.

The first casualty seen in the Civil War that follows involves Black Widow breaking ranks from her old Winter Soldier partners, urging Steve to stay out of things despite the Bucky of it all. But when he doesn't, Natasha takes her place alongside Team Iron Man.

Unlike the Tony Stark of perhaps a few movies ago, Stark is now arguing that superheroes need limitations -- perhaps out of residual guilt over creating Ultron -- while Captain America is more gung ho and questioning by comparison. But even if Cap isn't as much of a flag waver this time, Tony still feels like he wants to punch him in his "perfect teeth" -- and soon gets the chance to do much more.

Tony ends up being aided by MCU newcomer Black Panther, as this shot qualifies as the first look at the future leading hero, even with Chadwick Boseman's face hidden behind the mask. Nevertheless, he is seen getting a shot in at Bucky and outrunning Cap as well.

While Black Panther ends up helping Team Iron Man in some fashion, Team Captain America is seen here racing into battle against them, with Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch now alongside Cap, Bucky and the Falcon. However, non-superpowered associate Agent 13 is not with them.

As for Team Iron Man, it takes a few blows -- and perhaps Colonial Rhodes/War Machine will take the biggest blow of all.

Between that and so much more, the inevitable fight between Captain America and Iron Man themselves is sure to be super charged in more ways than one, as the final exchange proves.

Marvel Studios

"Sorry Tony. You know I wouldn't do this if I had any other choice. But he's my friend."

Marvel Studios

"So was I."

Broken friendships, broken bones and a broken MCU will be seen in full on May 6, 2016.
