We’ve all been enjoying Agent Carter filling in while Agents of SHIELD is on hiatus, but it’s been pretty quiet on the news front as well. ABC, the network that airs both shows, has released images for the upcoming back half of the season for another network series in Once Upon A Time, but has remained mum on what we can expect when Agents of SHIELD returns. Luckily one fan posed an Agents of SHIELD question in Entertainment Weekly’s recent spoiler chat, so we’ve got a little tease for you.

According to EW, the midseason premiere will be called “Bouncing Back” and:

In the aftermath of his trip to Maveth, Coulson is more determined than ever to get to Gideon Malick and put an end to Hydra once and for all. Daisy and the team encounter more Inhumans who have powers like they’ve never seen before, but will they be friends or enemies of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Is anyone surprised that the team will be encountering more Inhumans on the show? Probably not. After all, season three is the season we’re supposed to be watching Daisy (Chloe Bennet) grow her team of secret warriors. In order for that to happen, the show is going to have to introduce a few more powered people. Likewise, the idea that Coulson (Clark Gregg) wants to find a way to finish Hydra for good isn’t a shock.

To be frank, the synopsis as a whole doesn’t reveal a lot of information we couldn’t have guessed about the returning series. What’s most interesting to me is the title “Bouncing Back” is another term for rebounding or recovering. We know that there’s going to be a time jump, putting us a few months after the midseason finale when the show returns. Giving the episode this title indicates that we might see a lot of rebounding or recovering going on with the team.

We know that May (Ming-Na Wen) is going to be dealing with the fallout from Andrew (Blair Underwood) being Lash. We also know that Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) is going to be dealing with the guilt over Will’s (Dillon Casey) death, but that her feelings remain strong for Fitz. That information has all come from interviews out of TCAs earlier this year. We can probably expect recovery from the trauma they’ve been experiencing to be a recurring theme.

But “Bouncing Back” also brings a certain comic book character to mind. Slingshot, who was rumored to be appearing on the show in the new year, quite literally has to bounce back to the place where she enables her super speed; it’s a drawback of her ability. Natalia Cordova-Buckley began filming for the show in November, so it’s likely that she’ll make her Agents of SHIELD debut in the midseason premiere, instead of later in the season as many had speculated.

Find out when Agents of SHIELD returns on March 8 at 9PM on ABC. Until then, you can catch Agent Carter in the same timeslot.
